First Season Overview:

  • DMICS was held August 5-11, 2019, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Del Mar.

  • Six emerging composers presented their works and ideas as part of the festival.

  • The Hausmann Quartet served as Ensemble-in-Residence, thanks to a generous grant from the Del Mar Foundation.

  • DMICS presented five public events over the course of the week: two lecture/discussion sessions, two open rehearsals, and one concert.

  • Rehearsals and the final concert were recorded for the benefit of the participant composers.

  • Composers stayed with host families in the community, and their travel to San Diego was provided by the festival.
