2019 Season Overview
The inaugural season of the Del Mar International Composers Symposium featured exciting new music, a world-premiere performance by the renowned Hausmann Quartet, and the opportunity to interact with emerging composers from around the world.
Overview at a glance:
- DMICS was held August 5-11, 2019, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Del Mar.
- Six emerging composers presented their works and ideas as part of the festival.
- The Hausmann Quartet served as Ensemble-in-Residence, thanks to a generous grant from the Del Mar Foundation.
- DMICS presented five public events over the course of the week: two lecture/discussion sessions, two open rehearsals, and one concert.
- Rehearsals and the final concert were recorded for the benefit of the participant composers.
- Composers stayed with host families in the community, and their travel to San Diego was provided by the festival.
